The Egtved Girl's grave
You can feel the sweep of history right there, where the Egtved Girl was buried in the iconic Bronze Age burial mound outside Vejle. One of Europe's finest Bronze Age discoveries was made here when a young girl was found laid to rest.

It was February 24, 1921, and farmer Peter Platz was removing the last remnants of a burial mound on his field when he stumbled upon a solidly hewn oak trunk. The National Museum took over and transported the coffin to Copenhagen. When it was opened, they found a cowhide on top. Beneath it was a woven blanket of brown wool, and beneath the blanket lay the deceased herself, a 160 cm tall young girl with medium-length hair almost hidden in her face and a small bronze earring.

The Egtved Girl was lying on her back, dressed in a blouse of brown wool with bronze rings around each wrist. Beneath the blouse, one could glimpse the iconic bronze belt plate, and a skirt made of twisted brown wool cords was wrapped twice around her waist. By her left shinbone, there was a bundle of cloth with the burnt bones of a 5-6-year-old child, and at her feet stood a bucket of birch bark with the remains of a kind of honey-sweetened beer.

A blooming yarrow in the coffin indicated that the burial took place in the summer half of the year. The girl had died at the age of approximately 16-18 years.

The entire original Egtved find is on display at the National Museum in Copenhagen. So you have to go to the capital to see the Egtved Girl herself.

Bindeballe Merchant's House
Bindeballe Merchant's House is a genuine time machine back to the past, where you can both shop in the general store and explore the merchant's museum. Both indoors and outdoors, signs, exhibition items, and furnishings remind you of life as it once was.

Denmark's largest merchant museum is also located here with more than 5,000 different items, some of which are over 100 years old. Each year, Bindeballe Merchant's House is visited by over 100,000 guests who enjoy the authentic atmosphere.

If you feel like taking a break, you can enjoy coffee, buns, and cake in the coffee house.
