Enjoy the trip up to the highest point in Vendsyssel at 136 meters called Knøsen, located in Dronninglund Storskov and is Denmark's 5th highest point.
The view from Knøsen is covered with trees - but a popular destination for both new and experienced hikers. If you want a beautiful view, there is not far from the top a viewpoint with a bench where you can enjoy the view of Dronninglund Storskov and Jyske Ås.
Knøsen is part of "mountain range" Jyske Ås, so there is plenty of opportunity to continue the trip through the forest in the hilly landscape.
history
Knøsen is originally a Bronze Age mound/burial mound and dates from about the year 1000 f.Kr.
After 1807, the English used Knøsen to signal from. Around 1902, Lodberg, Flauenskjold and Rasmus built a mill tower on top. The tower stood until 1930, when a new tower was to be built. This tower was sold in 1939 to the Geodetic Institute, but was demolished shortly after the outbreak of the war for the sake of the Germans.
Practical information
If you want to climb Knøsen, the starting point is the parking lot west of Storskovvej.
